Representing oneself in court without a lawyer.
"Pro se" (Latin: "for oneself") describes a litigant who represents themselves without counsel. Pro se filings are common in in forma pauperis matters and small claims. Courts generally construe pro se pleadings liberally but still hold pro se parties to the rules of procedure.
